Bio
Andrew Brown is a young up and coming musician, producer, educator, and artist from Dearborn, Michigan. Just recently graduating from the jazz program at Michigan State University on trumpet, he is currently teaching K-8 general music at a charter school by day, and performing and creating music by night. Still only 22, Andrew has already played with and studied with many of the best musicians on the Detroit, American, and worldwide jazz scenes. You can hear influences of all genres in his music, which he hopes can ultimately bring people together.
In 2022 Andrew released his self-produced debut record "Lovely", a journey through heartbreak through the medium of pop music. The album featured many of his colleagues and peers from MSU, and received hearty reviews from publications like the Dearborn Free Press. Since then Andrew has released various singles and collaborations sporadically while completing his degree, but now that he's graduated, the next major project is currently in the works.
Outside of his pursuits in music production, Andrew is a professionally gigging jazz trumpet player. His travels so far have led him to performing at esteemed venues in Detroit, Tokyo, and even Lincoln Center in New York City. While at Michigan State, Andrew was under the mentorship of Anthony Stanco and Rodney Whitaker, and he has learned in the past from Detroit mainstays like Kris Johnson, Vincent Chandler, Scott Gwinell, Marcus Elliot, and Rayse Biggs. Through MSU's top notch jazz program, Andrew has had the opportunity to play and tour with legends like Renee Rosnes, Jazzmeia Horn, Stefon Harris, Marquis Hill, Geoffrey Keezer, Carmen Bradford, Camille Thurman, Geoffrey Keezer, Ryan Keberle, and of course, the rest of the all star faculty of Michigan State. Named as a finalist for both the 2025 National Trumpet Competition and International Trumpet Guild jazz competition, Andrew is starting to see his hard work and dedication to the music pay off as his career is just beginning.
